Ken and Marilyn Chapman first came to King Island as tourists and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere, landscape and friendly island community. They decided to sell their home in Mt Evelyn, Victoria, in 2002 and relocate to the township of Grassy, King Island, where they built their beautiful home from scratch on the old disused golf course overlooking Bass Strait. Ken did much of the hard labour on the house, while Marilyn applied her interior design skills to the internal fittings. As one of the island’s many artists, Marilyn has also designed each of the beautifully appointed apartments herself, ensuring only the highest quality furnishings and touches. More recently, the couple has built a gallery next to the main residence, showcasing the best of local artists and crafts, which guests are welcome to peruse.
